Accident Reconstruction

When an accident occurs, there may be conflicting versions of events, but the evidence tells the actual story. Our Accredited Accident Reconstructionists, all degreed Mechanical Engineers, investigate all types of motor vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle collisions. By analyzing motor vehicle physical damage, accident scenes, and loss documentation, we can determine how a collision occurred and what caused it.

S. D. Lyons can evaluate vehicle speeds, occupant motion, and accident avoidance. An analysis can also be conducted to determine if mechanical component failure caused or contributed to a collision. We incorporate sophisticated accident scene mapping equipment, accident reconstruction software, and crash data retrieval (black box) capability to ensure a thorough, comprehensive accident reconstruction analysis.

Physical Damage Causation Analysis

If you need to know if an accident occurred as reported or if all the damage is accident-related, our engineers will use their Accident Reconstruction training combined with their automobile crash test exposure and years of experience analyzing damage to provide an unbiased opinion. We will physically inspect the vehicle damage but if a vehicle is not available, we can conduct an analysis of photographs and documentation. If necessary, we will inspect the accident scene. When injuries are reported, impact severity can be analyzed through our damage analysis and a review of available crash test data.

All of our Accident Reconstructionists are degreed Mechanical Engineers accredited by ACTAR, the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction.
